Dr.ª Ana Belén Castel

Medical Director of the Instituto de Fertilidad de Palma de Mallorca

Graduating in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine at UCM in 1997, Dr Ana Belén Castel broadened her knowledge as an intern in the Chair of Human Anatomy I in 1992/93 before undergoing the MIR exam in 1998 and Doctorate Courses in 1999/01.

Completing her degree as a specialist in Gynaecology and Obstetrics after four years of specialisation at the Son Dureta University Hospital in Palma de Mallorca, Dr. Ana Belén Castel later graduated with a Masters in Human Reproduction at the Complutense University of Madrid in 2004 and a Masters in Human Reproduction IVI 2006/07.

Doctorate in the doctoral programme in translational research in public health and high-prevalence diseases. Thesis title: Luteal phase progesterone levels predictive of gestation in embryo transfer patients.

Dr. Ana Belén Castel’s principal role is at the Son Dureta Hospital in Palma de Mallorca where she specialises in Obstetrics and Gynaecology having started her career in 1998 as a resident doctor, before later becoming an assistant specialist doctor in 2002 and then transitioning to assistant specialist doctor at the Fertility and Major Outpatient Surgery Department of the Son Dureta University Hospital a year after. Since December 2003 she has been an assistant doctor at Son Dureta Hospital’s Reproduction Unit and in April 2004 became Coordinator of Reproduction at the same hospital and currently holds the same title at Hospital Universitari Son Espases.

She is a member of the Registration Committee in the Spanish Fertility Society.

Dr. Ana Belén Castel is also a member of the Public Centres Interest Group at the Spanish Fertility Society and the Eire Group (Spanish Reproduction Research Group).

Dr. Ana Belén Castel has recently began teaching as an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of the Balearic Islands.

She is the Medical Director of the Instituto de Fertilidad de Palma de Mallorca
