IFER introduces new Artificial Intelligence tools for oocyte analysis

At IFER we continue to invest in innovation and in the incorporation of new technologies that help improve the information available during fertility treatments.

We have recently incorporated two new artificial intelligence–based tools designed to analyze microscopic images of oocytes and provide additional insights into their reproductive potential. These technologies allow both patients and specialists to gain a more complete understanding of the process, without adding any additional procedures to the treatment.

The new solutions, Violet™ and MAGENTA™, use advanced algorithms to analyze images obtained in the embryology laboratory and generate personalized reports that help better understand the potential of the oocytes.

Violet™: artificial intelligence for fertility preservation

Violet™ is a report developed for women who wish to freeze their eggs as part of fertility preservation.

By analyzing images of the oocytes before vitrification, the system generates personalized estimates of their reproductive potential, helping patients better understand their future chances of success.

The report includes information such as:
• The number of mature eggs frozen
• Images of the oocytes before freezing
• An overall estimated probability of live birth
• The individual probability of each oocyte developing into an embryo (blastocyst day 5–6)

This analysis is performed using images obtained during the standard laboratory process, meaning it does not require any additional procedures or interventions.

Its goal is to provide patients with greater transparency and information, helping them plan future reproductive decisions with more confidence.

MAGENTA™: assessing oocyte potential in IVF/ICSI cycles

The second tool recently introduced is MAGENTA™, an artificial intelligence technology designed to analyze the oocytes obtained during IVF or ICSI cycles.

Through the analysis of microscopic images, the system assigns each oocyte a score from 0 to 10, reflecting its probability of fertilization and development into a high-quality blastocyst (day 5–7).

The report generated includes:
• The distribution of MAGENTA™ scores within the cycle
• The number of oocytes retrieved and analyzed
• Individual images of each mature oocyte
• The specific score assigned to each oocyte

This type of analysis provides greater clarity and personalization during IVF treatment, helping patients and specialists better understand the potential of the oocytes obtained in each cycle.

Technology to provide more information for patients and specialists

The incorporation of artificial intelligence tools such as Violet™ and MAGENTA™ reflects IFER’s ongoing commitment to innovation in reproductive medicine.

The goal is to continue advancing towards treatments that are increasingly personalized, transparent and data-driven, providing both patients and specialists with additional information that can support decision-making throughout the reproductive journey.
